"[Our project] had some restrictions that thicker cables couldn't get produced and developed by the manufacturers in the expected project time. So, we were restricted to a three thousand square millimeter copper cable, and this led to the need of thermal optimizations…. And, it became clear very early that we had to do soil thermal properties studies, and we needed a lot of manpower to develop the whole process, new process of the thermal design of power lines."
Cristoph Verschaffel-Drefke, Geotechnical Engineering and Hydrology Coordinator for Transnet BW, a transmission systems operator in Germany, after partnering with METER to conduct ### soil thermal properties analysis in ### years for the SuedLink project.
