We measure hydraulic conductivity in the lab using two instruments: the KSAT, which uses both the falling head (automated) and constant head (non-automated) methods on a soil core; and HYPROP, which automatically determines unsaturated hydraulic conductivity on an undisturbed soil sample. Each device simplifies traditionally tedious, painstaking measurements by automating them, delivering the data directly to LABROS software. Removing manual interventions not only reduces the potential for human error in measurements, it also reduces the time necessary to generate a complete hydraulic conductivity curve for any soil type. As a result, you get project-ready data you can trust in less time.
Partner with us to get more data points, more resolution, and more information than traditional methods such as pressure plates or hanging water columns.
The HYPROP and KSAT are designed to use a standard 250 mL or 100 mL, 2 in diameter sampling ring, which means a single sample can be used for both analyses. Each device can complete its analysis in only days, versus weeks or months with traditional methods. As a result, you spend less time collecting samples, less time waiting for results, and less of your budget on tedious lab work.
Partnering with METER means you get accurate, actionable data quickly, so you can keep your project moving.

Our lab services are performed in both the United States and Germany. As part of the initial consultation for service, we will help determine which office is the most appropriate for your project needs according to your location and any protocol or reporting standards that must be met.
Before collecting samples in the United States, we recommend reviewing the USDA Domestic Soil Quarantine Map.
